Last weekend’s ACTION segment on Free Your Mind features Bettie Reinhardt, NAMI Can Coordinator and Holly Davison, client/consumer and Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Programs Coordinator. Reinhardt shares NAMI’S findings of more than 1,600 programs in 58 counties making a difference because of Proposition 63. Holly Davidson shares a personal story of how she got to her position as Director of Stigma Reduction and Outreach at NAMI California.
The Free Your Mind Projects were started by individuals who have dealt with mental health issues with their own family member’s lives as well as with their own and they understand the stress of such things as 5150s, 72 hour holds, the stress of making decisions about hospice, dealing with Alzheimer’s, and the depression that goes along with trying to find help and understanding under tremendous duress. They found that even with 1 in 4 people in the world dealing with mental health issues that very few people understood them and knew how to get help. So they decided that with their strong outreach backgrounds that they could put their talents together to create an outreach media company to get the messages out to millions. The Free Your Mind Projects are the way to get those messages out to millions of people through Radio, Television, Film, Events, Social Media and Grass Roots efforts.
